Truckloads of Thanks: Celebrating Our Touch-A-Truck Event

At the end of May, Burley Discovery Museum, in conjunction with Apex Drilling, organized and hosted a community event and fundraiser, Touch-a-Truck. The event was a great success, attracting an estimated 500 attendees.

There were many different activities and stations at the event. The Burley Discovery Museum brought extra-large building blocks for families to enjoy —a sneak peek of the engaging exhibits we envision for our future physical location. Museum volunteers assisted with our ticketed attractions including a bounce house, tractor ride, popcorn and cotton candy, and a raffle. All proceeds raised will help secure a permanent location for the much-needed children’s museum.

The highlight of the event, however, was the impressive array of vehicles on display. Children were thrilled to explore a diverse collection of trucks and machinery, including towering drilling rigs, an ambulance, a fire truck, lifts, and much more. Each vehicle was presented by the companies that operate them. Children were able to learn firsthand about each truck’s functions and importance in the community through a unique, hands-on experience where they climbed to sit inside the trucks, ran sirens, and (maybe their favorite), honked the horns.

The success of the event highlights the strong community need for the Children’s Museum and its mission to provide enriching educational experiences for children. We express our gratitude to everyone who contributed and donated generously to our cause.

The museum board would like to extend special appreciation to Apex Drilling for initiating the idea and partnering with us to make the Touch-A-Truck event a reality. We would also like to thank all the trucks and operators who shared their time and professions with the community.

Thank you to our event sponsors who made this night possible:

We are immensely grateful for your contribution to our cause.
